Guitar Chords Virtual can help you learn to play songs. This app deconstructs chords to show the individual notes that make up each chord.
It also shows you different chord voicings with similar sound but differing fingering, helping you figure out where and which finger should be used.
Pitch bends and slides
Bending is one of the most expressive articulationss on a guitar: when stretched across the fretboard with one finger stretched over another string, one’s pitch rises, as indicated by either a curved arrow or number at its peak – for instance 1/2 means you should bend until its pitch rises by half-step while 1 means one whole step higher.
Create a slide by moving your finger up or down along the fretboard – ideal if you want to play an arpeggio by picking each note consecutively! Additionally, change from an acoustic guitar sound (currently set) to electric or nylon sounds; save up to 10 different chord configurations within this app; it even shows where to put your fingers for playing certain chords!
Fretboard layout
A fretboard depicts notes on a string’s neck. As opposed to piano music, guitar notes may vary according to how you tune your string; their placement on the fretboard provides useful clues as to chord progressions or understanding how shapes form patterns across it.
It also allows you to quickly map a different fretboard for any number of strings; just change the string count in the top line to generate a different fretboard chart. Furthermore, alternative tunings like Open E (E B E G# B) allow you to see how chords would sound on this fretboard tuning.
Hydro offers two distinct playing modes; strum and pick. Strum mode plays chords quickly in succession like strumming an actual guitar with your fingernails, while Pick mode enables you to use plectrum chords which will continue until deliberately stopped or the song’s tempo drops too significantly.
Neck Fretting Position
The thumb position on the back of a guitar neck varies for every guitarist depending on their fingers’ length and shape, as well as personal preferences for positional comfort. As a general guideline, its padded portion should lie closer to the center of fretboard than to its nut; small joints near knuckle serve primarily as homeostasis devices to ensure fingertip contacts with fret strings at precise locations.
Bend your fretting hand knuckle when pressing it against a string, as this will apply maximum pressure, reduce the chances of hitting adjacent strings that cause buzzing or muting, and allow your fingers to quickly disengage once their purpose has been accomplished.
Hydro offers a Pitch Bend slider which allows you to control the amount of pitch bend on virtual instruments, providing an invaluable way to learn chords by adding different amounts of bend & sliding between these.
Recording
Replicating the characteristic ways a session, professional or amateur guitarist plays their guitar can be challenging using only software. Reproducing all the fine details like scraping noises on fretboard when chord fingering changes occur; sliding from fret to fret; accidental ring or bleed of notes into one another are difficult for most guitar-modeled VSTis to replicate accurately.
This virtual guitar has many useful features that make it an excellent option for learning guitar and practicing at home. It offers both electric and acoustic samples, chords, fretboard tuning options (standard or alternative), and can display its fretboard in different ways depending on its settings.
The VST can record what it plays and save it as a button that can later be played back at any time. It can also display a fretboard diagram with all chords labeled to help identify them more quickly.
