Onstage, his face glows with passion and pain; his low falsetto voice sings in English and Spanish with a thick Bronx accent; yet away from stage he remains as shy as can be – his name being Anthony.

But his onstage persona still doesn’t match his offstage persona just yet. His first major hit came with Aventura in 2000, who would go on to sell out both nights at Yankee Stadium in July 2014. Now in hiatus while working on his solo album release; Aventura reunited for one night only on July 8, 2014 as they closed out the second concert during that sold-out run; their greatest hits album 14 + 14 peaked at number 132 on Billboard 200 chart and 1 on Tropical Albums chart in 2011.

Dewey attempts to convince No Vacancy, his former band, to join the school but is unsuccessful. Desperate for money, Dewey takes on the persona of Ned Schneebly and forms School of Rock; their lack of experience does not deter Dewey or other faculty members as the band impresses Dewey while performing its first live concert at an offsite location nearby.

Later that evening, Dewey visits Rosalie at her bar. Playing a Stevie Nicks tune on the jukebox relaxes Rosalie enough for her to offer to assist the band at Battle of the Bands; Rosalie promises her help and even kisses Dewey spontaneously!

Students then begin preparing for competition by meeting with their teachers for tips on playing in a band and impressing judges without using technical terms. Practice sessions at School of Rock include visiting notable venues like B.B. King’s in Times Square, Knitting Factory and Whisky A Go Go in New York City, Stubbs in Austin as well as various Hard Rock Cafes and House of Blues around the country.

Bob Jones University, a conservative evangelical Protestant school based in the United States that advocates Christianity and emphasizes Christian fundamentalism, is well known for its strict theological outlook that often criticises Catholicism, the National Council of Churches, and Southern Baptist Convention. Additionally, its bookstore sells small tracts on Christian fundamentalism while encouraging church cultivation in parts of the world where church cultivation may be necessary and providing students with opportunities to volunteer with missions around the globe.

Dewey Finn was previously a member of No Vacancy rock band. To earn money quickly, he decided to impersonate Ned Schneebly and enroll as a substitute teacher at his former high school. Before long he found himself leading an unlikely band of misfits including Zack who is reluctant to tell his overbearing father that he plays in No Vacancy; Shonelle and Marcy (two quiet girls who tend to remain hidden); Billy with his outlandish style which disgusts everyone;

Dewey encourages his students to express themselves musically and find their style while reminding them that God created each person as unique individuals with beautiful characteristics of their own. Soon enough, an inseparable band known as School of Rock comes into being.

Dewey forms the band for the Battle of the Bands competition: Zack on electric guitar, Katie on bass guitar, Lawrence on keyboards and Freddy on drums. In addition, Dewey assigns specific jobs to various students such as Mason in charge of lighting, James for security and Billy as stylist of his band; shy newcomer Tomika receives no assignment but eventually emerges as its primary singer.

Rosalie watches her students practice at Horace Green while attending a faculty meeting. While complaining to other teachers about a band lacking focus and discipline, when hearing Stevie Nicks on a nearby jukebox she finds herself relaxed enough to suddenly kiss Dewey without hesitation or thought.

Dewey is surprised that other teachers were so easily convinced, but he convinces them that in order to protect the band’s secrets from media exposure, reprimanding students more firmly will do. With Battle of the Bands fast approaching, Dewey convinces fellow members of his group that winning competition was their only viable option and they agree and begin practicing their set before heading over to school auditorium where competing schools await them in battle of bands competitions.
