Indie alternative artists don’t create music with sales in mind; rather, they compose for personal expression and to stand out as individuals within society. Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse and Vampire Weekend are among some examples of indie alternative musicians.
Indie folk musicians such as The Decemberists enjoy commercial success. Their songs can often be heard in television commercials and movies.
SAD
YouTube Music, the newest entry into streaming, boasts one unique advantage over its rivals: music videos accompany each song for an engaging listening experience and can help revisit favourite tracks more easily than before. Furthermore, its search function stands out among rivals by offering more options when searching for certain albums, tracks or artists; for instance searching “Radiohead – The Bends” returns early demos, individual track versions as well as live versions with even ukulele covers! While not ideal for purists of classical music this may set YouTube Music apart from rivals!
This service boasts an impressive library, with the option to upload your own music and create playlists, genre-curated playlists that make excellent use of YouTube’s vast library, podcasts and live radio being especially sought-after features. However, their absence may prove a deal breaker for some users.
YouTube Music has made great strides since its initial launch, with new design features and an upgrade in audio quality. Now streaming at 256 kbps (compared to 128kbps previously), instruments sounding more detailed while vocals feel less compressed compared to comparable services.
The app also has some rough spots, especially with regards to its user interface (UI). Navigation may be confusing with key functions buried deep within various menus or sections. Furthermore, other streaming services have some key features available like being able to play the same track simultaneously across multiple devices or desktop and mobile platforms – though this might only seem minor at times it can become frustratingly inconvenient.
SleepMusic
Sleep music can help anyone seeking a spiritual journey or simply trying to catch some restful restful zzzs. Once a fringe phenomenon–at avant-garde all-night concerts, New Age meditation sessions or in the form of videos for sleep hacking or wellness apps–this genre has slowly made its way into mainstream consciousness over the last decade. Ambient artists collaborate with music therapists; app downloads featuring soothing melodies are skyrocketing; and playlists dedicated to getting some rest are as popular as ever.
But there are a few key points to keep in mind when selecting tunes for your sleep-inducing routine. When selecting music to aid sleep, keep several things in mind: choose something you enjoy listening to; pace and tone of songs are both critical factors; slow and relaxing songs tend to work best as sleep aids while lyrics will likely wake you up in an otherwise peaceful night’s rest.
To determine the optimal sleep music, we conducted a search on Spotify for playlists with “sleep” or “sleepy” in their titles and descriptions, before eliminating those containing lyrics other than sleep music, speech (such as ASMR or sound effects), nature sounds or non-music sources like noise from outside sources; also any playlist containing only one song was removed from consideration.
I compiled this collection of relaxing indie tunes designed to help you fall and stay asleep, from ambient and vocal pieces, to ambient. Relax into dreamland! Enjoy!
