Are You Falling in Love or Breaking Up? Songs Can Help. Below are our favorite love songs which combine gentleness with power to express emotions that might otherwise remain unsaid.
Swift has long been known for writing catchy tunes about love and life that are easy to sing along to, with this song no exception. It aptly conveys what it feels like to fall out of love but still wish them well.
Beyonce
Beyonce is an artist of extravagant pop music, known for her eye-catching videos such as her provocative “Drunk in Love” video or the wedding footage on her latest album – whether that means turning every moment into an extravagant visual spectacle or surprising fans with concerts and even secretly recorded performances in iconic venues like Louvre! She knows exactly how to put on an extravagant visual show and keeps fans guessing!
Beyonce’s debut single Crazy in Love remains one of the most beloved songs ever written, and its striking video serves as an unforgettable snapshot of early 2000s culture – featuring streetwear and glamorous attire taken to an extreme (Beyonce changes her clothes six times throughout), provocative dance moves still replicated today, and an iconic scene where Jay-Z lights his car ablaze.
Beyonce delivers her seduction with an irresistibly seductive beat and emotive lyrics, creating an euphoric experience on this song about falling head over heels in love. Beyonce amps up the heat with seductive poses such as her seductive smile and seductive twirl, while being supported by light keys and punchy soul horns; her vocals almost growl during chorus time!
Beyonce wrote and produced “Ride On (Hold On to Me)”, later included on her 2013 self-titled album and used in the trailer of 50 Shades of Grey film. Later it reached number one on Billboard Hot 100 after its release in 2003. Jake Nava directed its video, featuring Carmit Bachar of Pussycat Dolls fame as well. It hit number one!
Ne-Yo
Ne-Yo’s love, love, love music video features many elements to draw audiences in. The opening shot appears to be New York City. Next are performance scenes with Ne-Yo dancing with backup dancers. Romantic narrative is expected in this genre’s music videos so audiences can identify with it easily.
Ne-Yo’s smooth vocals set this track apart as a modern pop anthem, instantly captivating listeners with its catchy melody and upbeat tempo. His lyrics evoke feelings of longing and nostalgia that come across visually in the video.
The music video utilizes voyeuristic methods to convey its message of the song. For instance, when the camera focuses on a woman passing by, scenes may be edited so as to show Ne-Yo staring directly at her and thus encourage misogyny and objectification of women.
However, the music video also presents a positive portrayal of men by depicting them as strong and independent individuals. Additionally, it promotes mutuality in love relationships; an essential lesson to teach young girls not to look for perfection when searching for partners but rather find joy within themselves and find happiness within themselves.
Ne-Yo has an undeniably soulful voice, yet his songwriting abilities leave much to be desired. While successful in R&B circles, Non-Fiction shows his talents are best utilized on dance-pop tunes, acoustic ballads, and smooth sex-jams such as 2012’s Lazy Love. However, his album becomes mired down with unnecessary dramaturgy–introductions, interludes, skits featuring one-note characters drawn too quickly from his soulful voice alone.
Sam Smith
Sam Smith followed up his successful debut with an emotionally driven sophomore effort entitled Love Goes. A collection of emotional songs sung with great emotion, it features collaborations with several musicians such as Jessie Reyez, reggae artist Koffee and Ed Sheeran; unlike previous records it includes more ballads. Song “Gloria” features gospel influences with choir backing and queer themes; hit single “Unholy,” which features nonbinary singer Kim Petras is also included as it offers a powerful statement against those who sow division for their livelihoods.
The album opens up with five powerful, energetic tracks spanning melodic funk and deep house before abruptly switching gears with five emotional yet melodic ballads that would better suit a Hallmark card. Although its emotional resonance makes for captivating listening experience, its production sound fails to set it apart from similar mainstream pop acts; for example “Young” sounds similar to Billie Eilish runoff material while its celebratory horns and beat drop recall recent iterations of Panic at the Disco.
Smith’s third album — originally named To Die For but later changed due to Britain’s COVID-19 pandemic — is an emotive romantic ode to love and heartbreak. However, its release was marred by transphobic attacks due to her choice of attire at a party and posting an emotional selfie while dealing with lockdown.
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato has never shied away from sharing her struggles, and her latest video for “Fight Song” reflects this openness. The clip shows Demi battling multiple versions of herself; one wearing an ensemble similar to Fabletics activewear line she launched last year; others are seen hanging out with friends such as a girl wearing pink wig and one dressed like a superhero.
Lovato can be seen standing between two rooms separated by a wall and beginning to destroy them until Murs appears with his guitar and breaks it down, then cuts away to Lovato on stage with her backup dancers, singing of feeling isolated and wanting not to be alone anymore.
Lovato expresses her desire to be her own person, without anyone defining who she is. Additionally, Lovato talks about her struggle with substance abuse as well as the pressures associated with being a role model and being expected to show kindness toward people around her. Lovato adds that she’s sick of people being mean.
The music video also makes several references to Lovato’s past relationships, such as one scene featuring a bride and groom running across a street – possibly in reference to her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama – who she dated from 2010-2016 and remains friends. Additionally, Lovato passes three men who appear similar to Jonas Brothers from Camp Rock; these three appear wearing matching gold jackets thought by fans to be an indirect dig at them.
Maroon 5
If you enjoy rock, pop or country music then Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody” should be at the top of your playlist. One of their most beloved tracks, it has simple yet catchy lyrics that allow anyone to sing along as well as an infectious rhythm that keeps people moving all night long – an essential must-have for music enthusiasts everywhere!
Director David Dobkin collaborated on this music video by filming it himself. Dobkin previously collaborated with the band on Sugar and Girls Like You videos, featuring an image of an unfaithful young woman who is used by numerous men, but she remains unresponsive to his love. It is an eye-opening reminder of just how difficult love can be.
Although not as upbeat as some of their other songs, the music video for this track remains stunning. The lyrics of this song are touching and will leave you feeling uplifted after listening to it. Adam Levine and SZA perform an exquisite duet that makes this track very catchy; perfect for wedding ceremonies!
People often think of Maroon 5 as being just another bland mainstream pop band, but they offer much more to their fans than that. Over the years they have fine-tuned their formula in response to changing trends; yet still managed to remain at the top of charts since Songs About Jane, their debut album. Since then they have utilized EDM-influenced beats, strategic collaborations with rappers, hooky hooks and drum patterns that hook you like a sponge – or they simply find something catchy enough that you give in.
