Single of the Year

Luke Bryan is set to host the 2022 country music awards alongside NFL Hall-of-Famer and two-time MVP Peyton Manning, featuring performances by various stars as well as the presentation of CMA Awards to winners.

The Country Music Awards, organized annually in Nashville by the Country Music Association and held at Bridgestone Arena, honor and celebrate many of country music’s biggest artists – this year also including Loretta Lynn who died earlier this month. This show pays its dues and pays its respects as we remember her with many tributes at Bridgestone Arena this year.

Award categories to be presented include Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Musical Event of the Year. Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde’s hit duet “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” will take home one of these honors.

Cody Johnson will receive another award for his breakout hit “Til You Can’t,” winning both this and Music Video of the Year awards. He received this trophy alongside producer Trent Willmon and mix engineer Jack Clarke.

Johnson has had an exceptional year. His hit “Til You Can’t” has become one of the most beloved songs in country music and earned five nominations this year, including Song of the Year and finalist status in various other categories. This achievement marks an amazing accomplishment for him!

Song of the Year

On November 9, country music’s biggest names and emerging newcomers alike convened at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to honor all that had made 2018 an amazing year in country. Hosted by two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan and NFL Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning, the 56th Annual CMA Awards featured unique collaborations and performances that no other show can rival.

Jordan Davis won Song of the Year thanks to his collaboration with CMA Awards host Luke Bryan on “Buy Dirt,” an instant hit that has become one of country music’s best-selling tracks.

Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde were also nominated in the Song of the Year category with “Never Wanted to Be That Girl”, however their performance did not impress judges enough for it to win them over. It marked the first all-female collaboration to receive such recognition since its establishment in 1994, becoming just the third song nominated since then.

Lainey Wilson and Parker McCollum earned nominations for the New Artist of the Year award. Wilson, an up-and-comer who became an instantaneous success over the course of 2017, won both CMAs for female vocalist and new artist categories this year.

Chris Stapleton made history on Wednesday by winning Male Vocalist of the Year five times over Vince Gill, Blake Shelton and George Strait – becoming the most awarded artist in CMA history with six trophies!

Overall, the 2022 Country Music Awards was an unforgettable show that brought memorable moments and performances by country stars Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire as tribute to Loretta Lynn.

Entertainer of the Year

The 2022 Country Music Awards aired Wednesday evening from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, gathering country’s greatest stars and live performances. Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning brought this year’s show to life by giving out top awards to artists and songs within this genre.

At this year’s Country Music Association awards, one of the most surprising victories was Luke Combs being honored as Entertainer of the Year for a second time – singing his own composition “The Kind of Love We Make” while giving a heartfelt speech on how country music has had such an influence in his life.

He extended a warm thanks to his manager and wife, as well as to his band and family members he thanked for all of their assistance along his journey as a singer. He expressed that this award was meant to recognize everyone who supported his musical dreams along the way.

But he didn’t just come away with one award: He also took home Album of the Year for his third studio album, Growin’ Up, marking an outstanding feat in country music. And that is just where his success begins – his star continues to shine bright in Texas-based country music circles!

Lainey Wilson led this year’s nominations with six, winning Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year awards. Chris Stapleton claimed Male Vocalist of the Year honors while Old Dominion received Vocal Group of the Year recognition as well.

Though there was some drama at the award show – including losing an esteemed singer due to a racist slur – some of the biggest winners of the evening were artists who had been shut out previously. Morgan Wallen had two chances at bat this time around but was welcomed back for performances instead.
