Since 1965, three cousins from Fort Payne, Alabama began making music together in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina bar. Through tip jars and word of mouth they ultimately secured a record deal, thus founding Alabama as a band – with its members selling millions of records, winning numerous awards, and leaving an indelible mark on country music history.

Randy Owen grew up on a ranch in Blount County and is now a popular singer-songwriter and actor. Additionally, he works as a cattle rancher, is dedicated to his family life, and his career revolves around loving his land and those who work it. Randy Owen’s music has inspired generations of fans.

In 2019, Owen was honored to receive the Angels Among Us award from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Over 13 years, his efforts raised over $800 Million through radiothons, auction items and performances at Darius and Friends benefit shows he attended as part of Country Cares for St. Jude Kids fundraisers for research into pediatric cancers; furthermore, Owen has shared that his own experiences with cancer allow him to relate better with children at St. Jude.

Mark Chesnutt
