Head in the Clouds
After its successful debut year in Los Angeles, music label 88rising’s music and arts festival returned this weekend for its second iteration at New York City. Forest Hills Stadium became an oasis of Asian culture as food vendors offered boba drinks with anime-esque iconography as part of an eclectic lineup that ranged from hip hop, K-pop, indie rock, reggae and beyond!
Raveena delivered one of the festival’s many highlights with her high-energy set at Double Happiness Festival, delighting fans with her signature vocals and contagious energy as she danced across its stage in her neon pink dress that matched magenta and peach hues from screens behind her, she began by performing “Honey,” a free-flowing ballad that got audience members moving to its beat.
Yerin Baek was another standout performance of Head in the Clouds with her whimsical melodies and captivating choreography, taking Head in the Clouds attendees on an emotional journey from heartbreak through happiness again and ending it all off with her hit single “Losing You”.
On Oct. 11, 88rising marked the final day of Head in the Clouds by releasing “Head In The Clouds II,” a compilation album showcasing tracks from their roster as well as beyond, with an emphasis on hip-hop, alt-R&B and electronic dance genres. Additionally, Hajime Sorayama’s artwork graces this project!
Head in the Clouds festival is back for its second installment in 2023! Celebrating Asian diaspora music with acts like Joji, (G)I-DLE, BIBI and Niki as headliners will help mark this celebratory event, sponsored by Goldenvoice (promoter behind Coachella).
