Electronic music venues have experienced immense growth over recent years. Even as high profile clubs close down, the trend shows no sign of abating.
Research participants provided various accounts of their experiences at EDM events, but four overarching themes emerged that included feelings of community, joy, strong musical experiences and identity expression.
1. Bootshaus
Cologne’s Bootshaus may be just what techno-loving clubbers are looking for to experience thrilling techno beats. This massive electronic temple has quickly risen to the forefront of worldwide clubbing scene due to its excellent musical program and long party nights that surpass all scene conventions. Depending on the event, you could dance away to house sounds, rough electro or drift off into the night with thunderous techno bass bass sounds – something Bootshaus excels at doing!
Bootshaus (German for boathouse) gives away its identity: this iconic music temple opened 17 years ago in what used to be a boat storage facility on the Rhine river’s eastern bank. Bootshaus does not impose strict dress codes like other clubs do and welcomes all who enter. Boasthaus boasts three rooms and an expansive outdoor area; on its main dancefloor you can hear Funktion One sound rumble through flame-throwers and confetti cannons, while its second room, BLCKBX regularly hosts DJs like dubstep artist Skism.
Bootshaus’s third space, Dreherei (an amphitheatre-shaped venue), hosts some of its most experimental events. 2022’s Chrome Cologne hosted an all-night sex-positive rave in which an all-night darkroom guardian led revelers around while an artist created surreal digital experiences on a giant screen.
Bootshaus prides itself on showcasing an international roster of DJs. Tiesto, Marten Horger, or Blastoyz all draw enthusiastic crowds to its venue; in addition, Bootshaus regularly stages electronic festivals like Parookaville BigCityBeats and ADE.
2. La Cigale
The Cigale Theatre (in French: la Cigale) is an iconic Paris theatre located in Pigalle district. Constructed at the end of 19th century and one of a handful of remaining Parisian theatres from that era, this venue hosted operettas and vaudeville performances such as those by Mistinguett himself.
Since 1940, this building was turned into a cinema. Later it became a theatre for B movies, Kung Fu films and X-rated movies. Since 2004, However Music took over this venue and transformed it into an essential stop for electronic music enthusiasts – with Justice, Manu Chao and Charlotte Gainsbourg among many others performing here!
Hotel offers 225 luxurious rooms and suites featuring modern amenities such as 40-inch interactive flat screen TVs with keyboards. Indulge in luxurious bedding featuring goose down duvets and pillow menu. Dine at Le Centrale Restaurant before enjoying drinks at Sky View Bar which boasts picturesque city views.

Hotel Hamad International Airport is only 30 minutes away, while Doha Bay, Aspire Sports City and several shopping centres are within 5 km of it. Amenities at this luxury property include two state-of-the-art ballrooms, a 490 sqm gymnasium and 20 metre indoor pool – plus luxurious rooms featuring private balconies with plush bedding featuring designer Acqua Di Parma bath amenities as well as scenic city views from many rooms.
3. The Shamrock
The Shamrock Pub and Nightclub features an Irish theme in Gatlinburg’s heart, offering dance floor, bar, and outdoor seating area. Open 24 hours daily for drinks and food at its bartender-served drinks such as beer, wine, cocktails. Plus karaoke can be enjoyed by entire groups!
The shamrock is one of Ireland’s most recognizable symbols and can be found on flags, coins, and merchandise across Ireland. It first became widely recognized after 1800 when Ireland joined England, Scotland, and Wales into a United Kingdom entity; subsequent Acts of Union created an unbreakable bond among them all; later becoming associated with nationalist sentiment by way of Thomas Moore’s Irish Melodies collection of songs in 1803-1804.
La Cigale, one of the city’s premier electronic music venues, draws an eclectic crowd with music ranging from Techno and Minimal to Dubstep and Drum ‘n’ Bass every night of the week. Every Tuesday is reserved for French-themed events while Saturdays cater specifically to gay crowds.
Stay in one of 31 air-conditioned guestrooms featuring hair dryers and complimentary toiletries, 43-inch LED televisions with satellite channels and Netflix access, bathtub/shower combinations featuring bidets or bidet-equipped bathtubs or showers as well as free wireless internet access, desk space, local phone calls, fitness center access and outdoor pool use – perfect for guests visiting!
4. Basement Club
BASEMENT, which opened under the Knockdown Center in Queens in 2019 as New York City’s inaugural nightclub dedicated to techno, offers state-of-the-art Funktion-One sound technology and custom lighting rig that brings European club tradition into this underground space. Furthermore, this venue hosts showcases and festivals and is the new home for Wrecked party series events.
The club’s vibe is an intentional (some would argue self-conscious) nod back to the pre-iPhone, pre-bottle service and pre-rave scene of the 1980s. The dancefloor, surrounded by concrete columns and dense bricks left unveiled from their former uses, is large and low ceilings add atmosphere as flickering lights add ambience. Furthermore, this space boasts an eye-catching entrance–a long tunnel filled with fog–along with old factory doors to further amplify its ambience.
Two VIP lounges provide an intimate setting. In keeping with the dark and moody theme, the lounge areas feature pink velvet bar stools, beetle-style green velvet upholstered chairs featuring beetle wings anchored by fun pendant lights as well as pink velvet bar stools. Louis Duncan-He Designs employed tropical colors throughout the club for added warmth in this industrial environment.
Beatrice, Lydo and Newa were chosen as resident DJs to showcase the techno sound prevalent at this venue during its inaugural season. All three created mixes specifically tailored for this space which showcase their takes on techno. Beatrice’s mix “lunges forward with explosive insistence,” Lydo displayed “poise and focus,” while Newa displayed techno at its “rushing, futuristic best.” BASEMENT will open its doors May 10 for an event featuring Rebekah as one of its headlining acts. Answer Code Request, Aurora Halal and Auspex will all perform in upcoming shows; as well as NYC debuts of FJAAK, Function, Headless Horseman Justin Cudmore Katie Rex Silent Servant Somewhen Tin Man Tommy Four Seven Vatican Shadow Shdw & Obscure Shape among many others.
5. Echostage
Echostage, our most recently added venue, brings festival-style vibes year-round. Home of Glow nightclub, it combines an impressive stage and full production to provide a wild experience that draws in world-famous DJs – currently ranked #1 by DJ Mag, this venue has quickly become one of D.C.’s hottest clubs for EDM enthusiasts.
Beginning its journey in 2011, two friends attended a Tiesto show at DC Armory. Impressed with how many people turned out for it, they decided to open up their own venue with state-of-the-art sound system, large stage, and larger dance floor.
Over several years, they gradually expanded their business into an impressive club with cutting systems, D&B Audiotechnik V systems for imported series, and LED displays – features that make this 30,000 square-foot space truly world-class venue.
This warehouse-inspired venue specializes in dance music and also hosts live shows. With top-of-the-line lighting and sound systems that draw household names from around the globe, guests can order drinks at either of its two 60-foot bars, or get up close and personal at one of its VIP tables in its VIP mezzanine.
Echostage recently joined forces with OHM of Netherlands to bring audiences a cutting-edge visual experience. Custom media servers engage the crowds with visually stimulating displays projected onto an LED wall; and to complete the experience a full Boar 4 lighting console equipped with the latest fixtures create the ideal concert environment.
