Toby Keith
Keith was a prolific country singer – former rodeo hand, oil rig worker and semipro American Football player who rose to become one of its enigmatic masters – who wrote patriotic anthems, drinking songs and cowboy-related themes that sold millions of records worldwide. Keith announced in June 2022 his diagnosis with stomach cancer requiring surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatments; when he passed away three months later it had already been treated accordingly.

Formed during college years with Mark Bryan, Jim Sonefeld, and Dean Felber from Charleston South Carolina garage rock ensemble to globally-recognized hit-making machine via Cracked Rear View’s release, their success along with Rucker’s rich baritone voice and effortless vibrato earned them worldwide fame, affording him unforgettable opportunities such as singing national anthem at Super Bowl XXVIII and World Series 1995.
Rucker made his transition to country music through his sophomore effort, Learn to Live (2008). Its lead single, “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” propelled Rucker into number one spot on country charts – making him the first African American male singer since Charley Pride had done so back in 1988. Additionally, this album hit number 20 on Billboard 200 chart and achieved platinum certification status.
Rucker has also appeared on numerous television programs beyond releasing albums and touring internationally, such as an appearance on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
