Country music Josh Turner has long been a mainstay of traditional country music, with hits such as “Long Black Train” and “Your Man.”
He is renowned for his powerful vocals, which have won him admirers around the globe.
Recently, He released an album honoring some of country music’s biggest icons, such as Randy Travis, John Anderson, Johnny Cash and Vern Gosdin.
Long Black Train
Long Black Train was Josh Turner’s first single as a solo artist and it quickly went viral at country radio, propelling him to become an important name in country music.
Turner’s music is often traditional, religious, with an old-fashioned vibe. This song perfectly exemplifies this style.
It also conveys an inspiring message, helping others stay focused on the important things. It touches upon topics like faith, home, and love. Most importantly, however, is its message of being thankful for what one has and finding joy in everyday experiences.
At the time, Turner was going through an intense breakup with his girlfriend and uncertain of whether he could move on. So he wrote a song to help him move on – one that would help him forget her and find someone better for him.
He had a vision of a train track winding its way through an expansive field. As people stood around it, debating whether they should board or not, it struck him that this symbolically represented temptation.
At midnight, he composed three verses and a chorus for this song. Although he initially thought no one would listen, he soon discovered that people did.
This song was the catalyst that ultimately lead to him signing a record deal. It displays another side of him than his more traditional, twangy tunes which had previously become his trademark.
The song also conveys a stark warning against temptation. Tempted individuals can easily become deceived by Satan’s seductive charms and become lost in sin, unable to find redemption or guidance.
The lyrics in the song are in accordance with Scripture, serving as a poignant reminder that temptation should never be taken lightly. It can lead to serious harm and death.
Your Man
Your Man is country music superstar Josh Turner’s most successful album, boasting two number one hits and earning double platinum sales. Produced by Frank Rogers, the record features two songs certified gold for over 500,000 units each: the title track “Your Man” and lead single “Would You Go With Me.”
Turner joined producer Mark Wright to co-write some of the tracks on this record, and while it has its share of weak spots, it remains an enjoyable collection of songs for fans of traditional country music.
The opening title track showcases Turner’s versatility as a singer/songwriter, offering an age-old ballad that celebrates love and devotion to those he cares about. He uses a deep drawl in the verses (before Sam Hunt popularized that sound), combined with soulful vocals on the chorus for an effective song.
Though his voice may not have the same range as Travis, that won’t stop him from singing about life’s simple pleasures and finding peace with God on Your Man. While his vocal ability is certainly commendable, there are some obvious flaws in his songwriting which prevent him from truly standing out as a modern country artist.
“Baby’s Gone Home to Mama” may not have the same sense of humor as Anderson’s, but it’s still an upbeat tune full of energy and fun. And don’t forget Don Williams’ 1977 hit ‘Lord Have Mercy on a Country Boy’ which is easily the best thing about this record!
Your Man features some popular songs, such as ‘Would You Go With Me’ which reached number one in 2006. This heartwarming country love song shows Turner’s talent for singing about everyday life and his desire to fulfill his woman’s every wish.
The album closes with ‘Way Down South,’ another classic country music piece that celebrates growing up in the South. It’s an ideal way to cap off this great collection and will go down in country music history as one of its classic hits.
Punching Bag
Though the album opener, a duet with boxing announcer Michael Buffer, might have given you reason to believe Punching Bag would be something special, it quickly becomes evident that Turner has simply re-established his formula. Each of his previous albums features songs about similar topics and topics; Punching Bag is no exception.
Turner’s narratives often draw from his own life experiences, and many of his songs echo these sentiments. On tracks like “For the Love of God,” “Time Is Love,” and “Find Me a Baby,” Turner conveys his sincerity in showing that he cares deeply about what matters to him. Unfortunately, on Punching Bag the autotuned timbre suffocates Turner’s voice making it harder to appreciate even its strongest tracks.
For optimal performance when punching a bag, fill it with sand or another dense material. This will increase its weight and enable you to develop strength, speed, and endurance. Additionally, use multiple techniques when punching for improved skillset development.
Sports stores or online can usually supply heavy punching bags with sand inside. But fabric-filled options may be preferred if it’s easier on your wrists and elbows than sand alone.
Finding a quality punching bag requires research and consulting with people you trust. Look for brands that provide money-back guarantees and are durable enough to withstand your workouts. Additionally, make sure the bag has been certified by the American Sports Medicine Association.
Before beginning more intense punching workouts, it’s wise to start with light strikes. This will help develop your form and teach you how to breathe correctly during exertion, so that you can hit the bag harder with less risk of injury.
I Serve a Savior
I Serve a Savior is country music superstar Josh Turner’s first venture into faith-based music. The album features hymns, spiritual ballads and uptempo country tunes with Turner’s soulful vocals. Its crown jewel is the gospel song of the same name which Turner said is one of his favorite acoustic tracks to date; it serves as a reminder not to take life too seriously.
The album also includes the title track, a powerfully performed high-pitched acoustic country hymn to Jesus Christ. While not the only song on the record, it certainly ranks among its most memorable. Turner spent 300 days touring in his youth years and experienced firsthand the downsides of fame and fortune; yet he finds joy in sharing his faith with his wife and four sons – though finding balance between family responsibilities and professional ambition has proved to be his biggest challenge yet.
