This song, composed by Allie Wrubel with lyrics written by Ray Gilbert for the 1946 live action and animated films, remains one of Disney’s most beloved hits to this day. People around the world still sing it today!
It was also recorded by The Dave Clark Five, Louis Armstrong and Greg & Steve for Playing Favorites (1991). In 1963 Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans took their version of this song to number 8 on Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 7 on Hot R&B Singles chart.
Additionally, the song was featured on Splash Mountain at Disneyland in California, Magic Kingdom in Florida, and Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. Additionally, it was utilized in Disney films Alice in Wonderland and The Lion King.
But it wasn’t until the 1960s that this upbeat, catchy r&b song truly gained notoriety, thanks to a collaboration between US Postal Service and several bands.
