Soul music is an engaging genre to enjoy at numerous locations, whether that means relaxing with some wine or dancing the night away – there’s sure to be a soul music event near me in NYC that meets your preferences! Read on for details.
Groove offers live musicians every night of the week. The bands play soul, funk and R&B for your listening enjoyment as you enjoy an array of cocktails and food options.
Groove
Groove is New York City’s sole spot offering live funky, soul and R&B music seven nights a week – located in Greenwich Village’s once world-renowned music mecca, many clubs that once graced this neighborhood have since closed but Groove still brings some old Manhattan charm into modern Manhattan life.
When listening to songs with groove, they seem to pull at your soul and urge you to move. Groove is what sets great songs apart from bad ones and even more essential than rhythm or melody; while certain genres require rigid, stable rhythms while others may call for something with more bounce or flair – oftentimes syncopation can do just the trick!
While musicians often talk about grooves as feelings or vibes, it can actually be quite tangible. A drummer playing their hit ahead or behind the beat creates this special rhythmic feel – in other words, good grooves should be intentional rather than unintentional – with intentional hits behind or in front of the beat producing exceptional results while unintentional ones often do not sound great at all.
At this festival, in addition to watching spectacular performances, you’ll also have a chance to indulge in delicious foods and beverages ranging from craft cocktails to locally crafted craft beers – something will satisfy every palate! Don’t forget your bottle of water; staying hydrated while watching is essential for energy levels while enjoying the show and you might even pick up a souvenir T-shirt to remember it by!
Subway Soul Club
In the mid-nineties, NYC was an epicenter for garage and punk music; however, it also boasted an interesting sixties soul scene led by Connie T Empress as den mother and DJ; she would play soul 45s that got people moving while wearing sparkly dresses – creating the ideal atmosphere for dancing fun!
Boogaloo Bag writers are pleased to report that the Subway Soul Club has returned. Held at Gemini & Scorpio Loft – an unmarked door on a side street in Brooklyn – all advance tickets sold out quickly, drawing in many dance enthusiasts who enjoyed themselves immensely on its wooden dance floor – no one there were looking in on them; overall it had an exceptional vibe!
Mr. Fine Wine and Mikey Post served as guest DJs for this event. Both men are extremely busy; each hosts their own weekly radio show on WFMU and their Wednesday night party at Botanica attracts an attentive hipster crowd. In addition, these guys play drums with two amazing teen combos and have released records through Daptone Records.
It was wonderful seeing many familiar faces from Empire State Soul Club nights back in the day – including Miss Nancy from The Boogaloo Bag who baked delicious pecan tassies and vegan brownies that proved extremely popular with attendees.
