Will a Seventh Day Adventist Go to Heaven?

will seventh day adventist go to heaven

Adventists believe in the return of Christ as an event visible and worldwide in which everyone will see his or her return. Adventists hold beliefs which align closely with many Catholic doctrines, such as Trinity and divinity of Christ; utilize valid forms of baptism; and preach about his second coming.

They believe death to be an unconscious sleep and don’t believe in an immortal soul, with proof in the form of King David slumbering with his forefathers and Lazarus from the New Testament as evidence for their viewpoints.

The Resurrection of the Righteous

Adventists believe that when sinners die, their souls remain unconscious until Christ returns and resurrects them. Those who believe in Him, however, will be raised up into heaven where they will rule alongside Christ for 1000 years – this event is known as The Resurrection of the Righteous.

Adventists believe in Annihilationism – which states that those who reject Jesus will be eternally punished and destroyed after the Millennium. Although God may be merciful and just, such punishment would be unjust to Christ-rejecters.

Although Seventh Day Adventism isn’t technically a Christian denomination, its doctrine and beliefs closely mirror Christianity’s. For instance, they believe the Sabbath occurs on Saturday instead of Sunday, and that Ellen G White received over 2000 visions between 1827-1915 which are the cornerstones of their faith.

The Second Coming of Christ

Adventists differ from many other Christian denominations in that they believe Jesus will return physically to earth for his second coming, and all God’s people, both righteous and otherwise, will live eternally on a new heaven and earth with Him.

Jesus will make his return known clearly and dramatically; He will descend from the clouds, and both those already dead and those still living will rise up to meet Him (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

The Second Coming will occur at the conclusion of seven-year Tribulation and in conjunction with Armageddon Battle, when those saved will go directly to heaven while those not saved will be sent directly to hell – this event is known as the Rapture; it is one of the most pivotal parts of Scripture and will bring immense joy for God’s faithful followers everywhere. Based on Biblical principles such as 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17.

The Millennium

Seventh-day Adventists believe in the Millennium as part of their core belief system, which refers to the time in which Jesus will rule over all creation, including an entirely new earth and heaven (Revelation 21:1). Additionally, believers will finally experience God in all his splendor without hospitals, graveyards or death and suffering being so widespread a part of daily life; therefore making this period one of peace.

The Bible contains much information regarding the Millennium, which has led some people to become fascinated with this millennia-long period. Unfortunately, different views exist on this matter and may be in conflict. Furthermore, most Christians are uncertain what Scripture states on this matter, which has further caused confusion regarding its meaning for Christians.

The Final Judgment

The Bible speaks of an ultimate judgment to take place after Christ returns, known as the Great White Throne Judgment, that will judge all individuals living throughout history based on whether or not their lives fulfilled God’s plan for redemption.

Seventh-day Adventists adhere to the biblical doctrine of annihilationism, believing that hell will not remain an everlasting state of punishment and will be destroyed following the millennium. Additionally, they believe the wicked will be permanently exterminated upon resurrection of righteous at Jesus Christ’s second coming.

Historic Premillennialism stands out among Christian eschatologies as an alternative view, held by Ellen G. White and closely related to classic premillennialism in Revelation. It assumes that conditions on Earth will progressively worsen until Christ returns, after which his work will be complete and paradise lost in Genesis will return.
