The 80s on 8

The 80s on 8 is a commercial-free Sirius XM Radio channel dedicated to 80s music. Established in 2000/2001 by Bruce Kelly – an experienced radio program director and morning drive/afternoon personality – when the merger between Sirius and XM took effect November 12, 2008 it merged with Big ’80s channel to take its current name.

This channel’s playlist includes hits from the 1980s by artists such as Michael Jackson, Journey, Madonna, Prince, Huey Lewis and the News, Cyndi Lauper, Hall & Oates and Kool & the Gang. Friday and Sunday nights offer top 40 countdowns as well as an hour-long request show hosted by Gary!

Sirius XM’s The 80s on 8 is unique among decades channels in that it does not feature live announcers; rather it is voice tracked by four remaining original MTV “veejays”, Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn – who all voice track. Programming similar to MTV Big ’80s includes familiar JAM Creative Productions jingles (as found elsewhere on decades channels), DJ habits from previous decades channels used on other decade channels, 80s slang references as well as news updates.

The XM app now features 26 holiday music channels, with three new additions this year: Trans-Siberian Orchestra Radio, Smokey’s Holiday Soul Town and Sleep Christmas. These channels include classic holiday recordings, contemporary holiday hits, holiday pop songs, country Christmas classics, Hanukkah music and more – its holiday lineup can be heard now through Jan. 8! Additionally, Holiday Nation will replace this channel.

90s on 9

The 90s on 9 is Sirius XM Radio’s commercial-free 1990s music channel, broadcast on Sirius XM channel 9 and Dish Network channel 6009. It primarily offers hit-driven R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Dance and Techno[1] tracks from the era – many station IDs even make fun of movies, television characters, songs or commercials that were popular back then!

Prepare to party! SiriusXM 90s Channel offers everything from grunge and boy bands, pop queens, hip hop and r&b right up until Mariah Carey and Alanis Morissette from this decade of music that also gave us Nsync and Backstreet Boys!

This SiriusXM radio channel features soulful and upbeat songs to uplift and comfort you, along with slow jams that will make you want to fall in love all over again. These tunes will transport you back to a time when life was easier and the world more innocent.

SiriusXM recently made a move that is both practical and disappointing: disc jockeys were removed from two more music channels: 50s on 5 and the 90s on 9. This decision makes business sense while simultaneously taking satellite radio another step back from what made it stand out at first – playing music not heard elsewhere on traditional radio and hiring DJs with unique backgrounds like DJ MC Hammer were what set Sirius XM apart when first launched; playlists have tightened, voices have disappeared, older music replaced with more well-known hits from each music channel – something which affects every Sirius XM music channel as a trend that can only come back later.

1960s on 9

As its name suggests, this channel specializes in music from the 1960s. It showcases popular artists like the Beatles and Elvis Presley while providing classic rock tracks from this era. Furthermore, there is a station called Yacht Rock that plays upbeat tunes that will have you longing to relax by the seaside with a cocktail in hand!
